The Salewa Alpine-Tec is a lightweight hybrid ice axe for use in mountaineering on steep slopes, even on more technical routes. It is ideal for snow-covered gorges and steep slopes.
It is slightly more curved and shorter than our Alpine-X ice axe and has a sharp, aggressive, 3 mm thick steel blade. The minimalist palm rest can be adjusted without tools. The ergonomically shaped ice axe head fits well in the hand and is particularly comfortable when ascending and descending, when the ice axe serves as a support.
Its strong, aggressive steel blade is ideal for use on steep alpine slopes or glacier walls. A sharpened, replaceable carbide ice axe tip at the end of the shaft ensures good grip when crossing old snow or ice.
This version has a sharpened shovel that can be used to cut steps and ledges into the ice very efficiently.
