An afternoon on a not-uncommon day of skiing: the piste that was still beautifully rippled and grippy in the morning now resembles a mogul slope. Sheets of ice lurk beneath it and the sun is high. Unfortunately spills often happen here. That’s why it’s important to protect what needs to be protected. While a helmet is obligatory at this point, only a few skiers wear a protector. It replaces a layer of clothing, is breathable and comfortable to wear and protects the spine from serious injuries.
With PROSHIELD, Alpina takes entry-level protectors to a new level. They're turning protectors into standard gear for skiers.

ALPINA Size Chart
ALPINA uses different sizing systems depending on the product and model. For helmets, head circumference in centimetres is the key measurement. For ski goggles and eyewear, ALPINA publishes model-specific fit information and overall glasses width. For back protectors, body height and waist-to-shoulder length are important.

How to Measure Head Circumference
- Place a flexible measuring tape horizontally around the head.
- For ski helmets, ALPINA recommends measuring about one finger's width above the eyebrows.
- Guide the tape above the ears and around the widest part of the back of the head.
- Compare the measurement in centimetres with the model-specific helmet size.
- The helmet should sit firmly and level and should not move around when you move your head.
Helmet safety notice: Correct size and adjustment are essential for protective performance. Always follow the sizing label and instructions for the specific helmet. A damaged helmet or a helmet that has sustained a strong impact should be replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Ski Goggles – Fit Index and Glasses Width
ALPINA uses model-specific fit indices for ski goggles. The glasses width is the overall width published by the manufacturer and is not the width of an individual lens.
| Model | Target / Fit Index | Glasses width | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| CARVY 3.0 | XS/S / kids | 131 mm | Specially developed for small children |
| SCARABEO JR. Q-LITE | Junior | 152 mm | OTG compatible according to manufacturer |
| FERNIE Q-LITE | Junior | 160 mm | Kids' ski goggle |
| GRANBY Q | M50 / medium faces | 175 mm | Manufacturer explicitly specifies medium face size |
| ESTETICA Q | S | 177 mm | Rimless |
| DOUBLE JACK MAG Q | M | 175 mm | Medium fit |
| TAOS QV | M | 180 mm | Medium fit |
| BIG HORN Q / QV | L | 179 mm | Large fit |
Ski goggle fit: ALPINA recommends that the frame rests evenly on the face. There should be no pressure points or large gaps between the face and the foam. Compatibility with the ski helmet being used should also be checked.

Protector safety notice: A back protector must match the length of the back and correctly cover the intended protection zone. ALPINA notes that the relationship between body height and back length varies between individuals. Waist-to-shoulder length is therefore an important additional measurement. Avoid choosing a protector that is too large and have the fit professionally checked if unsure.
